Homemade Vegan Waffles

Jump to Recipe

Weekends are better when Spring is in the air and with homemade vegan waffles 🀀🀀🀀🌸

I usually use my sourdough pancake recipe to make my vegan waffles, but I used up all my starter with all the sourdough donuts I’ve been testing πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ©.

So instead, I used egg replacer and baking powder for my homemade waffles, and they turned out better according to my kids πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ, or they’re just sick of me adding sourdough to everything…πŸ˜…πŸ€£

What A Way To Start The Weekend

Pancakes or Waffles?

I much prefer waffles than pancakes.

They are much easier to make, simply put batter in waffle maker and let the waffle maker do all the work.

Non of this watching, and flipping pancakes business…πŸ˜…

And if you have a 4 burner waffle maker like me, then you’ll have a stack of these delicious homemade vegan waffles in no time πŸ˜‹.

Being dairy and egg free, these vegan waffles are just as crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and as delicious as it’s non vegan version 🀀 🀀🀀.

Why don’t you make a batch, and let me know if you agree with the kiddos.

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 cup grapeseed oil
  • 1/3 cup caster sugar

Instructions

  1. First prepare the buttermilk by mixing your choice of plant milk, and the apple cider vinegar together in a jug.

  2. Then in a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients.

  3. Then add the wet ingredients, including butter milk mixture, and mix until batter is smooth and lump free.

  4. Let the batter rest for 30 min and you are ready to cook in your waffle makerΒ

  5. Cook in waffle maker as per waffle maker instructions

  6. Batter should be smooth and not too runny. If you feel its too runny, add a little bit of flour, if too thick, add some more milk.

Theres no right or wrong, it just depends on your preference of texture.

  7. Serve immediately with your choice of topping

Recipe Notes

I choose soy milk as it gives me a thicker, fluffier texture. You can use whatever plant based milk you like. You can even just use water!

Β

This batter will make roughly 10, 11 x 11cm size waffles. Qty may vary depending on the size of the waffles you are making.

Β

You can use the batter straight away, but letting it rest for 30 min will let the batter thicken, giving you a lighter and fluffier texture.

Β

No Egg replacer, No worries, you can also used ground flaxseed insteadΒ πŸ‘Œ.

Β

These waffles can also be frozen for up to 2 months πŸ˜‹.
